Jay B. Abrams, ASA, CPA, MBA, founder and head of Abrams Valuation Group, Inc.
(AVGI), is one of those rare individuals who integrates theory and
practice. He has valued businesses and consulted on mergers and
acquisitions in a wide range of industries, provided valuations and
discounts for fractional interests and restricted stock, and conducted
independent statistical and mathematical research regarding problems
facing businesses. During his 25 years of accounting and valuation
experience, he has made, and continues to make,

contributions to the science of valuing businesses. Mr. Abrams' book, Quantitative Business
Valuation: A Mathematical Approach For Today's Professionals (McGraw-Hill, 2001)
shows how to integrate advanced scientific methods into real-world valuation analysis.
Mr. Abrams is in demand as a speaker.
He has spoken at the AICPA/NACVA litigation support conference, the International
Conference for the American Society of Appraisers, and the National Center
for Employee Ownership Conference. He also lectured at the University
of California at San Diego and Anthony Robbins' Mastery University in
Hawaii, and contributes to the most prestigious valuation
journals, including Business Valuation Review, The Valuation Examiner,
Valuation, and The Practical Accountant.
Prior to founding AVGI, Mr.
Abrams was a founding partner in the San Diego accounting firm of Thefeld,
Finch and Abrams, headed the valuation practice of Pacific Corporate
Valuations in La Jolla, California, and worked as a senior valuation
economist for Arthur D. Little Valuation, Inc. and, in the 1970s, as an
auditor for Arthur Andersen. He earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing
from the University of Chicago, and a B.S. from California State
University at Northridge. Mr. Abrams is an Accredited Senior Appraiser
(ASA) of the American Society of Appraisers and is a certified public
accountant (CPA).
